Condition: Good - with stamp 'Koninklijk Instituut van Ingenieurs'.

Antiquarian edition of a 19th century military report of tests with explosives and bombs by the Prussian army. Illustrated with 2 diagrams and a fold-out print (a lithograph by A.J. Bogaerts).

The two soldiers, one a Captain Engineer and the other a Captain of Artillery, were part of an international delegation of officers from Germany, Russia, England, Greece and Serbia. Defences were bombarded with all kinds of artillery to test both.

¶ The print (62 x 31.5 cm) shows a map of the siege works that were under fire. Not in Sloos (2012); Not in NCC. This appears to be an independent print of an article that previously appeared in the Militaire Spectator. Rare militaria.
