Photomechanical reprint in facsimile of the first edition, originally published in 1906-1907 by the N.V. Maatschappij tot Exploitatie der Nieuwe Arnhemsche Courant, of the standard work by Antoon Markus (1842-1907) "Leeraar aan de HBS te Arnhem" about the 19th century history of the Gelderland capital. Illustrated in black and white. With alphabetical index in the front.

Important book that every 'Arnhemiana' collector should own in his library. The historical data for the period 1800-1900 are still interesting, but most important are now the nostalgic (mostly in Art Nouveau style designed) advertisements for Arnhem companies from the fin-de-siècle.

¶ Antiquariaat Gysbers & Van Loon published reprints in 1965 and 1966. This is the deluxe bound edition of the last reprint edition from 1975. Only 15 copies of this so-called 'mayor's binding' were issued in green- and 15 copies in red, whole leather binding with gilded title and city arms on the spine and front cover.
