Monograph about the English illustrator Cicely Mary Barker (1895-1973), known for her fantasy picture books of Flower Fairies (elves of flowers and herbs). Illustrated with photographs and reproductions in black and white and COLOUR. With bibliography and index.
¶ Hardback edition of this standard work, very useful for antiquarians and collectors of her work. Cicely Mary Barker made her debut at the age of fifteen with the publisher Raphael Tuck (in 1911). From childhood she was very much inspired by Kate Greenaway and in 1923 "Spring" appeared, the first part in the Flower Fairy series.
