A small monograph on the first edition of the novel De Avonden (1947); in fact a book-historical complete anatomy of everything that has to do with this popular 'editio princeps'; enumeration of pre-publications, physical appearance, design by Ies Spreekmeester, circulation, reviews by fellow writers, etc.

¶ This is the FIRST EDITION of 'De eerste druk', which sold out within a week. On July 22, 2024, a second edition appeared with the addition in the colophon that the booklet was provided with a cahier stitch by De Matenaaiers in The Hague.
