Boekenweekgeschenk 1949. Originally published anonymously novella by Clare Lennart, pseudonym of Clara Helena van den Boogaard-Klaver (1899-1972). Illustrated with black and white drawings (and cover design) by Gerard Douwe (1914-2007).

¶ The back cover should contain the competition postcard. The booklet was given away free with the purchase of Fl 3.50 worth of books. Circulation: 154,000 copies. [Cf. De Bakker p. [20]; Blom p. 65-66]. In 1954 Alexander Stols published the booklet without the illustrations by G. Douwe, but for the first time with the author's name, as Atlantis-Reeks No. 2.
