Dutch translation of Die Prostitution (ca 1900) by Dr. Wilhelm Fischer (1861-?). With table of contents and a long list of other comparable publications of the publisher. This bibliography makes this booklet very useful for those who want to 'continue reading'. Advertising on the backside cover for, among others, Em. Boulanger's Handboek voor Gehuwden. Text in Dutch. Softcover in Jugendstil design.
The book deals with i.a. religious prostitution, unnatural fornication among the Greeks (homosexuality), legally regulated prostitution in Rome, brothels, French mistresses, the Norwegian Semiramis, men's brothels in London, "criminal deviations from sex life", Flagellantism (BDSM) and the trade in 'white female slaves'.
¶ In 1897, the Amsterdam publisher Cornelis Daniëls started a bookshop and publishing house, specializing in clandestine erotica and semi-scientific works with a sexual touch, such as the present book. This title was of course confiscated during raids by the Dutch vice squad. Read about this Bert Sliggers' De zedeloze jaren 30 (2020) p. 91 ff.
