¶ The collection of texts begins when the then 24-year-old philosopher was teaching classical philology in Basel as a professor. His first notes deal with the origin and nature of opera in relation to Greek tragedy. The successive parts show the development in Nietzsche's thinking. The last part contains his frontal attack on the problems of metaphysics.
