Catalogue 511 is a kind of Artists Book by the English-Italian artist duo, consisting of Gilbert Prousch (1943-) and George Passmore (1942-). Illustrated with a black and white reproduction. With Dutch translation of 'Six Points toward a better understanding'. An introduction at the front: "George and Gilbert are delighted to have you here with them in their new romantic sad beautiful sculpture"
¶ Wim Crouwel (Total Design) probably provided part of the design, but he is not mentioned in the colophon. Huygen p. 273 depicts the cover without further information. Not in Wolters.
Gilbert & George became known for performances and large photo works behind glass. They have pioneered performance art, video art and conceptual art. The Kröller-Müller Museum in Otterlo purchased 'The Paintings' in 2010.
