Paul Verlaine - Biblio-sonnetten / Biblio-sonnets: Vertaald door Martin Hulsenboom. Houtsneden van Richard Ranft - Utrecht - Stichting De Roos - 2016 - 1st edition - 208 pp. - Hardcover with dust jacket - 20 x 25,5 cm. - Design: Designstation Bert Meijer - Edition: 175 copies.
Condition: As new; one of the numbered copies, complete with the letter of the publisher and still packed in the original box. (Pages obviously NOT cut open).
Bilingual edition of the last poems (about books!) that Paul Verlaine (1844-1896) ever wrote. Illustrated with woodcut illustrations. With biographical sketch by Peter IJsenbrant and bibliographical history by Ed Schilders. With justification. Set from Bembo, Clarendon and Courrier type and printed on 120 grams Materica paper from Italy, in various colors (which makes this book smell wonderful). Text in French and Dutch.
¶ Limited edition of 175 copies. Detail: the diabolical designer Bert Meijer left the part of the book block with the sonnets 'uncut'; in order to read the book these pages must therefore still be cut open or the pages must be kept in O-shape to lurk in between from above.
