Antiquarian two-part historical novel by the Belgian lawyer Julius Plancquaert (1853-1888), set in East Flanders (Nazareth, Oudenaarde, Leupegem, Petegem, Bevere) during the French era and the struggle of the Patriots at the end of the 18th century, with a leading role for an evil Italian Freemason. With table of contents. Bound in contemporary leather binding with gilded title on the spine and decorative paper pasted covers.

¶ The 19th century lawyer Julius Plancquaert was co-founder of the Davidsfonds and co-founded the well-known literary magazine Belfort & Dietsche Warande (1886). His books are forgotten and rare, as is this exciting romantic story; only one copy in one public institution and not in the KB (Dutch Royal Library).
