Luxurious antiquarian travel book about Italy from the mid-19th century. Illustrated with an engraved frontispiece of Florence, and 22 steel engravings (6 of which are coloured). With index. Text in French. Cf. Andres 643. This is the edition from 1864, the first edition appeared in 1855. There was also a volume méridionale; but both volumes were published separately.
¶ Prints of i.a. the Cathedral of Monza, the Tower of Pisa, the lighthouse of Genoa, Milan, Padua, Venice, the leaning towers of Bologne, the Palazzo Vecchio on the famous square Piazza della Signoria. The hand-coloured engravings show, among other things, flower girls and ICE SELLERS (!) in Florence.
