Monograph by the French Art Deco artist A.M. Cassandre (pseudonym of Adolphe Jean Marie Mouron, 1901-1968) with emphasis on the posters he made for Dutch firms around 1930. Illustrated with photos and reproductions in colour and black and white. With bibliography and table of contents.
¶ Useful standard reference book for antique dealers and collectors, dealing with i.a. Cassandre's advertising for Gazelle bicycles, BK Enamel, the "Droste-mannetje", Philips, "de Nederlandsche Spoorwegen" [the Dutch Railways] and Shipping (the Holland-America Line). The Dutch artist Dick Ket was a great admirer of Cassandre's work.
