Condition: Good set.
Propaganda comic strip published in a newspaper in September 1942 and consistently cut out daily by someone. Text in Dutch.
¶ The sequence tells the story of model worker Koenraad, a typical Dutch young man in the service of the Nazi occupiers, 'laughed at and misunderstood'. After a number of heroic deeds, including eating properly with a fork and knife, the mood has changed: "A wonderful institution, the 'Nederlandsche Arbeidsdienst' [= 'Dutch Labor Service']". In reality, the youths were drilled for the Eastern Front.
It is unknown who is behind the pseudonym 'vdE'. Scarce WW2 item. The (contact) advertisements and obituaries on the back sides are also interesting. Not in Matta. cf. Groeneveld p. 146.
