Historical women's novel (1906) by the forgotten writer Frauck J.G.W.C. Engelberts (1880-1929). Bound, by Elias P. van Bommel, in very intact Jugendstil (publisher's) binding with peacock feather decoration (in use until the 4th edition around 1917).
¶ The designer was unknown to me [not in Braches; not in Beijers; not in Struik; not in Storm van Leeuwen; not in Aardse], until Paul Snijders (of antiquarian Fokas Holthuis) revealed that it is a copy of the Macmillan peacock by the American / Scottish / British designer Albert Angus Turbayne, created in the 1890s.
