[J.H.] - [Painting: Oriental landscape with washerwomen] - [Nederlands-Indië] - [c. 1935/1945] - Original work on wooden panel - 59,5 x 40 cm.

Condition: Good - with some damage on the corners.

Painting with an idyllic view of an Indian stream where two women are doing their laundry; another woman walks up a flight of steps towards a small house with a thatched roof. Tropical vegetation and palm trees all around.

¶ Signed lower left (an oriental sign or initials J.H.). According to the previous owner, this work was taken back to the Netherlands from the Dutch East Indies in 1948/1950 by his father, who was a KNIL soldier.
