Antique Dutch magazine from the 1920s. Illustrated with photos in black and white and COLOUR. Cf. Hemels/Vegt I.p.286-289: Het Leven appeared from 1906 up to 1941 when, after a ban by the German occupiers, it was absorbed into 'De Prins der geïllustreerde bladen'.
¶ The 'Badnummer' was an annual special of the magazine, devoted to beach life and thus filled with, for the time, rather spicy photos of young ladies in swimwear, which boosted sales considerably. The inventor of the concept, editor Frans van Erlevoordt, died in May 1924.
This issue from the Roaring Twenties also includes: the Pier in Scheveningen, Louis Davids (Het Strandlied, written especially for Het Leven), Hans Martin (Romannetje), a kind of photo comic (staged by Poldi Reyff, Agathe Pordon and Alex Hock), Felix Hageman (first part of serial) and a Sherlock Holmes competition.
