¶ John Bauer's early work was heavily influenced by Carl Larsson and Albert Engström. Between 1907 and 1915, John Bauer illustrated fairy tales in 'Bland tomtar och troll', a book published annually at Christmas. His wife would often have acted as a model for the illustrations with a fairytale princess. At the age of 35, he and his wife and three-year-old son drowned on Lake Vätter when the ferry they were on capsized and sank. - Wikipedia.
