Condition: Good - Top edge has rust spots; the cellophane of the cover, as is often the case, is beginning to peel off. But SIGNED by the author and also provided with an original drawing on the half-title page.
A novel by the artist Jan Wolkers (1925-2007) about his youth in the South Holland town of Oegstgeest and the abandonment of the Reformed faith. The book was filmed in 1987 by Theo van Gogh. On the back a childhood photo of the author and his report [transl.]: "Jan is lazy and disobedient." Series Meulenhoff Edition No. 65.
¶ The first edition appeared in 1965. This is a twenty-second edition, released in July 1979. Jan Wolkers sometimes wanted to add a drawing to his signature at earlier signing sessions. That also happened here, a beautiful peacock in two colors, executed with felt-tip pen.
