Collection of stories and poems for youth aged 6-9, written by Suzanna Mathilda Maathuis-Ilcken (1855-1927) and the teacher Henriette Dietz (1857-1939). Illustrated with black and white drawings by Sijtje Aafjes (1893-1972). Hardback edition. 'Mijn mooiste Serie' Voor 't kleine volkje deel XXV (part 25).
Publisher Van Goor Zonen published this series between approximately 1912 and 1929. At least 35 titles were issued (with book binding design by B. Midderigh-Bokhorst.depicting reading children). Cf. De hele bibelebontse berg p. 577; De Bodt / Kapelle p. 69-81.
¶ Our copy, however, has a different binding by Rie Cramer (1887-1977), with a banner on the cover stating 'Nieuwe Prachtuitgave' and The Hague as the place of publication. [Not mentioned in Burgers]. Possibly Van Goor republished old stock (the first edition appeared in 1922) in the 1930s in a more modern hardback jacket?
Artisanal bookbinder Hans Zegveld of Pagina1 from Nijmegen gave the book a new spine, using a matching ocher-coloured linen.
