Bound monthly health magazine from the 1920s; complete series of 12 episodes. Illustrated with black and white photos, reproductions and nostalgic advertisements. With book section and index. Master binder Hans Zegveld has provided this volume with a half cloth binding with the title in silver stamp on the spine.
Volume 7 includes articles and letters to the editor about tropical diseases such as Beri-Beri, the Yellow Fever, 'Hoeveel lucht verbruikt de mensch?', the jubilee of Prof. dr. Lorentz (with Mrs. Curie and Prof. Einstein), pimples on the face and the danger of the cinema (it supposedly stimulates the sex drive in young people).
FURTHERMORE: hair turning gray, menstruation, cold feet, eczema, psoriasis, ringing in the ears, sudden deaths, the vegetarian diet, train sickness and a book about ONANIE (masturbation); the editors don't mention the title (unfortunately!) so as not to make propaganda for it because [transl.]: "the [book] tries to justify this vice".
Advertising for, among others, Pharmacist F. Rinsma in Groningen, Haco's Pleegzuster Bloedwijn, J. ten Doesschate's LEVERTRAAN and wheelchairs from M. Oostwoud in Franeker. On p. 87 an In memoriam for Emile Coué (1857-1926), the champion of optimistic autosuggestion.
