Antiquarian newspaper from the mid-19th century with foreign and domestic news, politics, sea tides, information about ships in the harbor, houses sold, birth announcements, obituaries, stock market reports and exchange rates.

The Rotterdamsche Courant (not the NRC) existed between 1738 and 1867. This issue of Friday the 13th contains i.a. advertising for the "extra snelzeilend gekoperd fregatschip Europa", [destination Batavia, Dutch East Indies] with on board  "eenen geëxamineerden Scheepsdoctor en eene melkgevende Koe."

¶ The front page is dedicated to the Crimean War with an excerpt from a letter from Crimea: "[...] Russia has resolved [not to allow Sevastopol] to be taken [by the English and French], and we will see who will endure and lose the most people."

General Aimable Pélissier addressed his: "Soldaten! [...] De dagelijksche aanvoer van manschappen is ruim voldoende om diegenen onder u te vervangen welke bezweken zijn en die gij in uw binnenste gezworen hebt te wreken. Wij hebben grond gewonnen [...], gij zult u geduldiger, krachtiger dan ooit in dezen hardnekkigen strijd betoonen, de uitslag van welken over den vrede der wereld beslissen zal."
