¶ This manual with martial fighting techniques for laymen contains tips and tricks on i.a. defense for women, leading away an attacker, jiu-jitsu, the hip throw, the leg lock, what to do against a knife, a revolver, etc.
Toepoel, who became boxing champion in 1902/1903, also wrote an influential manual on the sport of boxing (1912) that was reprinted several times. He was a friend of Dutch author Louis Couperus.
