Dutch translation, by J.J. Besançon, of 'My Life and Loves' (1922/1927); the autobiography of the Irish/American publisher Frank Harris (1855-1931). Softcover, the first integral Dutch edition.
¶ 'My Life and Loves', which is mainly set in the fin-de-siècle, was published privately by the author himself in the 1920s and in 1931 by Jack Kahane's Obelisk Press. It initially consisted of four parts. In 1954 a fifth part appeared, based on - allegedly - posthumous notes.
This complete version of the book gives a graphic account of Harris' erotic adventures and recounts gossip about the sexual activities of celebrities of his time. The work was banned for 40 years in both the United States and Great Britain.
