¶ Frequins have been mentioned since the 14th century (Colas de Ferrequin). The origin of the Arnhem branch lies specifically with Nicolas Joseph Frequin (1720-1788); a French soldier of Napoleon Bonaparte, who settled in the capital of Gelderland after 1813. The book also deals with the Second World War, when family members were involved in the Resistance against the German occupiers.
