¶ Gerard Reve was friends with the etcher / draftsman whom he often referred to as Bullie van der Knaak and Francis Pancake. He appears in 'Nader tot u' and plays a leading role in 'Veertien Etsen van Frans Pannekoek voor Arbeiders verklaard'. Pannekoek and his then girlfriend ('Pamphylia') are immortalized in the poem 'Het zorgeloze kunstenaarsvolkje II'. Eventually the relationship between the two artists deteriorated. In 1984 'Brieven aan Frans P. (1965-1969)' was published.
