Accurate description of this masterpiece of watchmaking, completed in 1893. Illustrated with a print, depicting the clock (printed by Meisenbach Riffarth & Cie) in black and white. Text in Dutch. Bound edition in green cloth binding and gold stamped decoration and title on the cover.

The Twaalf Apostelen-Klok ('Passions-Uhr') was designed by the German 'Hofuhrmacher' Gustav Speckhart (1852-1919) on behalf of the 19th century clock collector Carl Marfels (1854-1929). The 5-meter high piece was presented and awarded at the Chicago World's Fair in 1893.

In 1897 the giant clock came to Arnhem, but this ended badly. In the night of 12 to 13 September, the large party pavilion in Stadspark Sonsbeek near the entrance Apeldoornseweg went up in flames. An Arnhem dealer in musical instruments was suspected of having set things on fire and had to answer to the court.

¶ At the behest of Arthur Junghans, Speckhart made a reconstruction, which was presented at the World Fair in Paris in 1900. Today this clock is exhibited as 'Junghans'sche Kunstuhr' in the City Museum of Schramberg (D).
