Collection of stories by Herbert Kamp (pseudonym of Prof. Dr. Eduard Hubertus Hermans Jr., 1894-1981); a "gigantische constructie van een binnen de eenheid van een minuut saâmgevatte veelheid van korte verhalen, die alle het povere lijfsleven tonen in de ombarmhartige greep van de duizend-armige Dood" [according to Frans van Oldenburg Ermke].
Rare edition with impressive cover design in photo-typo collage style (as used in the 1930s by i.a. Paul Schuitema, Kees Strooband, Andries Oosterbaan and Wim Brusse but here applied) by the Russian designer Wladimir A. Bielkine (1895-1967).
¶ Information about Bielkine, who became a Dutch citizen in 1933, is scarce. In any case, he designed dust jackets for some of Willem Elsschot's books (including Kaas). Not in Maan / Van der Ree; Not in Aardse.
