¶ During the time of the Third Reich, Blunck was involved in various cultural institutions of the NAZI regime (including serving as president of the Reichsschrifttumskammer). Between 1920 and 1940 he published many novels and stories in the spirit of National Socialism. Blunck was particularly interested in Hanseatic history and Scandinavian themes, which he framed with nationalistic aspects and "völkische" ideas.
