The twelfth and last completed novel in the James Bond series by Ian Fleming (1908-1964) was published posthumously (the short story collection 'Octopussy and The Living Daylights' appeared in 1966). Cover design by Richard Chopping.
The book was made into a movie in 1974 starring Roger Moore as secret agent 007 and Fleming's cousin Christopher Lee as the villain Francisco Scaramanga.
¶ Fewer than 1000 bound copies of the first edition were provided with a gold stamp in the shape of a gun on the cover. This is a copy of the regular version ('first impression, second state binding') without the mentioned stamp. Cf. Gilbert A13a (1.2).
