Antique 19th century edition of the collected works of the Dutch writer / poet Jacob van Lennep (1802-1868). Illustrated with (a lot of) black and white prints. Hardcover edition in beautiful blue cloth bindings (in Dutch: 'Prachtbanden') with gilded titles and decoration.
This set contains: 1. Onze voorouders (5 parts); 2. Elizabeth Musch (2 parts); 3. Ferdinand Huyck (2 parts); 4. De roos van Dekama (2 parts) and 5. De Lotgevallen van Klaasje Zevenster (5 parts). Together 36 cm of shelf space filled with beautiful antique books.
¶ Van Lennep edited the poems of De Schoolmeester (1858) and the first edition of Multatuli's Max Havelaar (1860). He was a prominent freemason and deputy grand master national of the Order of Freemasons in The Netherlands.
