Antique book with Dutch translation of Von den Ahndungen und Visionen (1777) by the German moral philosopher Justus Christian Hennings (1731-1815). Illustrated with one print (a copper engraving of a kind of Camera Obscura?). With preface by the author (dated February 1777) and translator ('slachtmaand 1789') and table of contents.

Bound in contemporary cardboard binding with decorative paper pasted boards and spine shield with gilded title. The book was published in two parts (the second part about "Premonitions during waking" appeared a year later).

¶ This first part deals with various omens and in particular PREDICTIVE DREAMS, both "philosophically explainable" and those "which are difficult to explain". The book also deals with "Bijgeloof, Maanzieken en Slaapwandelaars".
