LORD LISTER (a cross between Arsène Lupin and Sherlock Holmes) was originally created in 1908 by the Germans Kurt Matull and Theo von Blankensee. Dutch episodes appeared between 1910 and 1968, mostly written by journalist Felix Hageman (1877-1966).

¶ In this issue, Lord Lister takes on a gang that kidnaps young women, after which they end up in prostitution. [transl.]: "Take off that dress, darling." He had approached the young woman and grabbed her, tearing the light garment from her body in one go. - Help, help, she screamed, holding her hands in front of her bosom."
