¶ Boekhandel Hijman, Stenfert Kroese & Van der Zande was founded in 1895. Rudolf's father Simon died in Auschwitz. The logo of the bookstore/publisher can still be found on the facade, a Jewish menorah with the fusion of their names and the store's motto: "Het Schone Kennen Veredelt De Ziel".
