Condition: Good - no dust jacket, the first endpaper (neatly) cut away. But with dedication from the author (!).

Novel by the Book Week author Marianne Philips (1886-1951). The first edition appeared in 1940; this is the hardcover second edition (this book probably came with a dust jacket). Philips wrote the 1950 'Boekenweekgeschenk': 'De zaak Beukenoot'. From 1951 to 1975, a literary prize (established by her widower) bearing her name was awarded annually: the Marianne Philips-prijs. Her oeuvre is small but still a challenge to bring together in early editions.

¶ This copy is SIGNED by Marianne Philips (as 'van de Schrijfster'): "Aan Den Mevrouw Meijer-Klein". Signed books by Marianne Philips do not come on the market very often.
