The 1982 Book Week Gift is a subtext comic strip by Marten Toonder (1912-2005) with an adventure of Tom Poes (and Heer Ollie B. Bommel, to whom the foreword is attributed). Illustrated in black and white. [Circulation 370,000 copies (+ 100 bound)].
¶ Cf. De Bakker p. [59]; Matla BOMME 100.1b. The booklet was provided free with the purchase of Fl.19.50 worth of books. There was also a shortened promotional edition for the bookstore, accompanied by a letter from Toonder in which he indicates that the blank page 17/18 is not a printing error but planned. The story was previously published in a slightly different form in the newspapers (including in the NRC Handelsblad from 17 April to 11 July 1979) and the theme is still current (immigration and refugees).
