Hebrew Torah (the Christian 'Old Testament'), edited by Meïr Halevi (Max) Letteris (1800-1871); from Genesis to Chronicles, including the Psalms. Hardcover edition with red edges, the title in gold stamp on the spine.
¶ The Austrian poet Max Letteris translated works by Virgil, Lord Byron and Goethe into Hebrew. Between 1852 and 1866 he revised the Masoretic text of the Hebrew Bible using ancient manuscripts and early printed editions.
The font is easy to read and is printed in a clear one-column format per page. The so-called 'Letteris-Bible' is probably the most reproduced text of the Torah ever; highly appreciated in both Jewish and Christian circles.
