Catalogue of an exhibition on the work of the French-German artist Hans Bellmer (1902-1975) in Centre Pompidou, Paris. Illustrated with photos and reproductions in COLOUR. With list of exhibitions and bibliography.
¶ Bellmer's work, inspired by Dada, is considered to be part of surrealism. He became known for his sculptures of fetish-like dolls (made from parts of mannequins, wood, metal and plaster) and the photo series "Die Spiele der Puppe" (1949). In 1954 Pauline Réage's 'Histoire d'O' appeared in France with an etching by Bellmer on the title page.
