Early edition of Histoire d'O; the famous sadomasochistic novel, written under pseudonym by French journalist Dominique Aury (= Anne Desclos, 1907-1998). The protagonist 'O' is subjected to corporal punishment (whipping, branding) by a strict master. Text in French.

This is the 'quatrième tirage' in an edition of 1000 copies on 'papier vergé'. Numbered '124' with a numberer. Cf. Pia p. 341 for the first edition that appeared in the same year.

¶ With a preface ('Du bonheur dans l'esclavage') by Jean Paulhan (1889-1968), the writer's lover at the time. "The Story of O" was originally written for him privately because he was an admirer of the Marquis De Sade. The book was filmed in 1975 by Just Jaeckin with Corinne Cléry and Udo Kier in the leading roles.
