An information poster of 'Veilig Verkeer Nederland' [= Safe Traffic Netherlands] on the theme of safe behavior of pedestrians, cyclists and moped riders on public roads. Undated but probably from the mid 1960s. Rare documentation; as far as we could ascertain, not present in public collections.

The poster consists of 15 black and white photos depicting various traffic situations. It appears that the photos were taken in Hilversum and the surrounding area. Visible are, among others, crossing public on a zebra crossing, traffic users at night ("Wear light clothing or hold a newspaper in your hand"), Puch mopeds and a Ford Cortina old-timer.

¶ 'Veilig Verkeer Nederland' started campaigns since 1932, but information was certainly not an unnecessary luxury in the 1960s. Despite the fact that there was much less traffic then than today, many more people died in traffic accidents. Pedestrians and cyclists were especially affected.
