Bibliophile edition of a poem by Prudens Van Duyse (1804-1859) in the theme of bibliomania, the morbid love of books. Illustrated with a tipped-in photo portrait in sepia as frontispice. Text set from the Perpetua and printed with the hand press on laid Gambi paper. Edition: 55 numbered copies.
¶ The poem originally appeared in the magazine 'De Eendragt' (May, 1858) and was based on the life of the Ghent bibliophile François Borluut de Noortdonck (1771-1857) whose collection of rare books, manuscripts, drawings and prints was known throughout Europe. The April 1858 auction catalogue of his collection consisted of 3 parts.
