Early 20th century Dutch edition of the Holy Book of Islam after the translation of Albin de Biberstein-Kazimirski (or Kasimirksi, 1808-1887; Interpreter of the French Legation to the court of Persia), Dr. Ludwig Ullmann, dr. G. Weil (Librarian at Heidelberg University) and R. Sale (Professor at Oxford University).
Illustrated with 3 folding maps in colour. With table of contents. Bound in contemporary green cloth binding with title and decoration in gilt stamp on the spine.
¶ Salomo Keyzer (1823-1868) taught Mohammedan Law at the Royal Academy in Delft. In addition to the 3 maps (lithography by W.R. Casparie & Zn, Groningen), this third edition was also enriched with'Een kort overzicht van de geschiedenis der Turken, voornamelijk in hunne verhouding tot het overige Europa' by Dr. N. Japikse. Between 1860 and 1925, five editions of his Alkoran appeared.
